A Slight Detour...rapidly turning into a major detour!

Not too long ago I was posting about my latest period, 2mm Seven Years War. Well, while I was waiting for some more of the micro chaps to drop through the letterbox –this was during the 2 and 6mm handover period with Irregular- I decided to start on my other latest project 2mm English Civil War. Now, over the decades I have collected a reasonable amount of literature, had a reasonably sized Parliamentarian army in 25mm (since sold) and an even larger 15mm army (one of the few which I still have), and even going as far as joining the Sealed Knot in the mid 1970’s.

So, along with my deep fascination (some may call it an infatuation) with the exploits of the Mongols during their rampaging through Eastern Europe in the 13th Century, I have an abiding and long standing interest in the ECW.  Here endeth the back story.

In the last few weeks –at least two since my 7YW order arrived, I have been painting a few ECW bases and as you can see from the accompanying pics, I have eight regiments of foote, eight each of Parliamentarian and Royalist Horse regiments, two bases of Commanded Musketeers, dragoons and a couple of ordnance bases all painted. To offset that, I have a further eleven regiments of foote, nine regiments of Parliamentarian Horse including Haselrige’s famous Lobsters, another six Royalist Horse, a couple of Commanded Musketeers, 2 bases of ordnance and more dragoons. That means about half are done and now 7YW has dropped back into rather distant second place. Damn this butterfly interest!

Therefore, totals currently stand at 18 infantry regiments, 17 Parliamentarian Horse, 14 Royalist Horse, 4 bases of Commanded Musketeers, 4 bases of ordnance and 4 bases of dragoons mounted and dismounted. Plus the usual hangers on like generals, baggage train etc. None of the bases are labelled as yet but I have already identified The Lord General’s (Earl of Essex), Lord Saye and Sele’s (Sir John Meldrum’s) and Colonel Thomas Ballard’s to name but a few.

Not only that, I’ve been looking at doing some Irregular 2mm Mongols and Chin Chinese and also Antonine Miniatures Romans and  barbarians!

Remember, never let your brushes go hard!
